On arrival at Kigali airport, the tour guide will welcome and transfer you to your hotel in case you need to stay in Kigali for an overnight. If not, proceed to Akagera national park for an overnight stay inside the park as you experience wildlife at night.

An early start in the morning as you join your ranger in an open vehicle for your safari into the Akagera National Park. A half day game drive offers you the opportunity to spot a variety of wild animals such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, Oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bush buck. Return to the lodge for lunch.

Proceed for a boat trip along Lake Ihema, where you will have a closer look at water animals like Crocodiles and Hippos, coupled with large concentration of birds – over 525 species identified. Unique species such as Shoe billed stocks and papyrus Gonolek can be encountered. Endemics include the Jacana, ibis, sand pipers and herons.

The park includes scenic muddles of swamps, twisted acacia woodland combined with open grassland and lakes that tag along the wandering flow of River Akagera also referred to as the distant source of the magnificent Nile River.

Among the lakes in which the prominent River Akagera pours its waters is the beautiful Lake Ihema which is the largest of all and enhances extraordinary boat cruising encounters and experiences to all travelers.

Return to Kigali and connect to Park National des Volcans (PNV) in the north for an absolutely unparalleled experience of Mountain gorilla tracking.

After the morning breakfast, with our packed lunch, we go to the park offices for registration and briefing by the rangers/guides and security personnel before starting the day’s gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes National Park. The trek ends approximately one hour after viewing to return for lunch, dinner and overnight.

Therefore, gorilla trekking tours in Volcanoes National Park will start at 7:00 am local time, breakfast at the lodge will be ready. 30 minutes will be enough for your breakfast and then transfer to the nearby park headquarters where you will be briefed by park ranger on how to carry out gorilla tracking. Hiking on the slippery and muddy Volcanoes slopes with nettles is quite challenging.

But the encounter with mountain gorillas will take away all the bad memories! You will be allowed to stay with these close relatives of ours (mountain gorillas) for at least an hour for observation and photography.

Wake up early and take your breakfast before heading to the Volcanoes National Park offices for a briefing on golden monkey tracking. After the briefing, you should hire a porter to help with the backpack or any other heavy equipment so that you can comfortably track the golden monkeys.

The park guide will lead you into the forest where you will finally spot the monkeys on top of the trees and on the ground feeding. Golden monkeys are a rare and endangered species of primates.

They look very cute and you should take as many photos for your collection given that you are allowed to use flash cameras. Once done, you will head back to the park for lunch and rest.

Beyond the gorillas, Rwanda tours offers many other experiences, including a rich cultural heritage. Visit local villages to witness traditional dances, participate in drumming sessions, and learn about age-old customs.

Explore the vibrant capital city of Kigali, where modernity blends seamlessly with historical landmarks, such as the poignant Genocide Memorial Centre.

After busy and tiring days, you should wake up at your own leisure and prepare for the journey back to Kigali. In case you missed the tour of Kigali on your arrival day because of time and flight constraints, this is the day that you will go for it.

You will visit the city market, the former presidential palace, artisan shops and the Gisozi genocide memorial site. During the city tour, you will have another chance to buy local art pieces as gifts for family and friends back at home. Afterwards the city tour, our Guide will take you back to the airport for departure or to your hotel if you are living in Kigali.
